Vittoria Laghi is a junior assistant professor in the Department of Civil, Chemical, Environmental and Materials Engineering at the University of Bologna and part-time Professor in Digital Manufacturing Technology at Leibniz University of Hannover. Her research spans innovative structural design, digital manufacturing, and circular construction. She authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications and conference proceedings.
Laghi is also CEO and co-founder of D-MOD, a spin-off specializing in advanced metal manufacturing for design, architecture, and construction.
Recently, she co-deposited three patents for innovative mobile 3D printing solutions and innovative lattice structural elements to reduce the environmental impact of metal structures.
At TUM, Vittoria Laghi will lead a focus group titled "REUS-AI: AI-Driven Conceptual Design Platform for Steel Reuse”. Her research will focus on leveraging AI-driven computational design solutions to promote the reuse of steel structures, paving the way for a future of green and circular construction.
Laghi's Hans Fischer Fellowship at TUM-IAS is funded by the TÜV Süd Foundation. This Fellowship is intended for outstanding early-career female engineering scientists.
