Andrew Ibrahim awarded with the TUM Diversity Research Prize

The TUM Diversity Research Prize honors outstanding theses that engage with gender and diversity topics or approach them from new perspectives. This year's awardees include a bachelor's student from the School of Engineering and Design.

How do people with a migration background experience mobility in their own neighborhood? This is the question Andrew Ibrahim explored in his thesis at the Chair of Urban Structure and Transport Planning, headed by Prof. Gebhard Wulfhorst. For his study on perceived mobility injustice in the Munich district of Blumenau, he was awarded the TUM Diversity Research Prize 2026.

His bachelor's thesis is titled "A mixed methods approach to perceived mobility injustice in Blumenau, Munich with a focus on people with a migration background." The thesis was supervised by Sindi Haxhija of the Chair of Transportation Systems Engineering, led by Prof. Constantinos Antoniou.

The TUM Diversity Research Prize is awarded annually by the Staff Unit Diversity & Inclusion to one bachelor's, one master's, and one doctoral thesis that places gender and/or diversity aspects at its center. Students can apply together with their supervisor; each prize is endowed with €1,000.
