Trainer and Coach Course Offerings for Multipliers and Expert Tutors

Do you want to lead your own workshops or coaching sessions, work in a dynamic team and support a group of students and accompany their personal development?

With the various training and coaching courses at the Centre for Key Competences, you will learn important competences such as leading a group, conveying content in a clear manner or accompanying students, for example, at the start of their studies or during project work. After the training, you can directly implement what you have learned and gain important personal experience. You support the ZSK as a student assistant for 1-2 semesters and responsibly supervise your own groups of students.

 

Which training suits you best?

Workshop coach

As a workshop coach at the TUM School of Engineering and Design, you will be accompanying a group of freshmen as a workshop trainer for one semester and coach the workshop trainers, who will participate for the first time in the course "Key competencies to your start in college" as trainers. In addition to the preparation of the freshmen for their independent work in the study, the focus is on the training and further development of the workshop trainers. You will accompany them through the semester, conduct feedback discussions and act as co-trainers in the training and reflection workshops. For your job as a workshop coach, you will receive further training as well as a certificate.

Tasks

  • Prepare four workshops on the following topics:
    1. Kick-Off: Getting to know the group and competition
    2. Time management, learning and motivation
    3. Presentation training (self and product presentation)
    4. Feedback on contributions to key competencies
  • Coaching the new workshop trainers by consulting and advising during the semester with subsequent feedback
  • Co-trainer in reflection workshops for workshop trainers
  • Participation in the reflection workshops for workshop coaches
  • Correction of the exam performance "learning portfolio" of your student group

Target group and prerequisites

Bachelor and master students of all majors who have previously completed a workshop trainer training program can apply for the position as workshop coach. 

Project coach

As a project coach at the TUM School of Engineering and Design, you will be accompanying a project group of students who are in the 5th semester for one semester. Within the framework of the "Key Competencies for team work in a Project" course, you experience various project groups from the kick-off to the final presentation, and conduct demand-oriented coaching conversations and workshops. You will deal with topics such as project consulting, group dynamics and teamwork. For the job as a project coach you will receive a training as well as a a certificate.

Tasks

  • Coaching conversations about topic identification of the workshop with different project groups
  • Organizing demand-oriented workshops for different project groups (four hours each)
  • Co-trainer for various large group events: Kick-Off and World Café
  • Correction of the exam performance "learning portfolio" of your student group

The Centre for Key Competences trains tutors of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering - a perfect complement for tutors working at this chair. You will receive professional training from the Centre for Key Competences in your appearance, teaching methods, content preparation and how to deal with disorders. During the semester, you will be accompanied through the learning process by an observation of the ZSK.

The training lasts two days in which you acquire 2 ECTS in Soft Skills, which you need for your Master's degree at the faculty.
