Prof. Gehlen with the Chair of Materials Science and Testing, the Chair of Non-destructive Testing Laboratory under the direction of Prof. Große, the Chair of Binder Jetting Technology (Prof. Lowke) and Prof. Machner with the Professorship of Mineral Construction Materials are now advancing their research in the building. The research focuses on the four professorships, which include the development of materials for 3D printing in the construction industry, the prediction of the service life of building materials, the detection of damage in concrete and reinforced concrete, and the long-term monitoring of structures. Other topics include 3D printing with concrete and clay, the ecological optimization of materials, and improving mineral binders' environmental and economic efficiency.
The “Chemistry” working group headed by Prof. Machner and the “Bituminous Building Materials and Rocks” working group headed by Prof. Gehlen will continue their research in Pasing. However, the “Chemistry” working group plans to move to a new building between the old Mensa and the interim lecture halls in Lichtenbergstraße in 2026.
